Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated an Oxygen Park at Sindhu Bhavan in Ahmedabad. The park project is now being developed in other cities like Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, and Junagadh. The main aim of these parks is to make a city breathe well like jungle environments: urban forests. Walking, yoga, bird watching, and many other recreational activities will be included in the parks.

Studying The Primary Features Of The Park At This Point:

1) Green: It will have thousands of trees/ plants which can generate significant levels of oxygen and make the oxygen parks green.

2) Recreational spaces: Spaces such as walking footpaths, yoga spaces, and birdwatcher spots, among others, will be created to help facilitate the outdoors relaxation and wellness.

3) Environmental benefits: Parks will be useful for decreasing pollution, cooling urban spaces, and supporting biodiversity.

4) Tragad, the new address: The new oxygen park is developed in Ahmedabad Tragad. This will have above 75,000 trees and plants over area of 24,000 sq m.

There are many oxygen parks currently in Ahmedabad. The Sindhu Bhavan park resides on an area of 27,000 sq m with a count of 1.67 lakh plants and trees. Another in Science City, Hebatpur, has more than 12000 trees and shrubs on a 4000 sq m area.

Another oxygen park in Rajkot holds 150 species, while Upaleta has five under-construction parks. Kutch also has an oxygen park having more than 3600 trees.

It is clearly not a government initiative although it has the contribution of community and social organisations to set up such spaces. With this amazing initiative, we can just hope for a greener and healthier tomorrow as these parks will not only be pollution free but also provide a wonderful space to breathe.
