South Africa To Fast-Track Indian Visas, Plans For Direct Flights

South Africa has indeed carried out the unique initiatives of making travel to its shores easy for Indian tourists through the complete replacement of its existing e-visa system with a new electronic travel agreement as a multiplier to boost travel and tourism ties with India. Such initiation is believed to convert the swift pace of visa processing.

Indian travelers intending to travel through registered tour operators for these visas will likely have their approvals within 48 to 72 hours, if reports are correct. The news comes from Patricia de Lille, the Minister of Tourism of South Africa. South Africa would be made more visible as a destination by this project.

Direct connectivity between India and South Africa is in the pipeline. Currently, discussions between South African Airways and Indian carriers such as SpiceJet and Indigo are underway. If successful, these flights would further cut down travel time from 8-9 hours for most of the important Indian cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Currently, layovers are lengthy for travelers.

Patricia De Lille said that it is clear South Africa is following the example of the likes of India, Brazil, and Indonesia in the promotion of tourism by having it as a key subject when the country takes over the G20 presidency next year.

On economic growth, tourism was growing while ensuring it remained cognizant to the environment and the communities.

At the very least, South Africa gives itself the booster shot by easing its visa processes and paving the path to direct flights. South Africa strives to be the go-to destination for Indian travelers in terms of wildlife safaris, cultural and adventure experiences. By relaxing some historical problems such as visa delays and connectivity, South Africa is trying bold new strokes to capture much of this potential market.

More increasingly, the Indian travel market is developing an interest in one-off international destinations. For Indian tourists, therefore, these developments promise to provide a much easier travel experience while opening the countries up to South Africa's diverse landscapes and vibrant culture.
