Starting from the first day of January 2025, the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Tourism Department has placed an entry fee for visitors at most of the popular state beaches as a measure to enhance the beach facilities. This is quite a move aimed at improving the tourism facilities, cleaning up the environment and encouraging forward looking growth.

The tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh pointed out that beach development should be done in a holistic manner because these areas should not only be preserved but developed as well.

1) Why and how much Entry Fee: The entry fee shall be between INR 15 to INR 20 per person. It’s a part of a bigger plan by Andhra Pradesh government.
2) Beaches where visitors will have to pay Entry Fees: The entry fee will be applicable to several locations across the state of Andhra Pradesh including:
Maipadu Beach
Kakinada Beach
Ramayapatnam Beach
Rushikonda Beach
Suryalanka Beach
These coastlines are stunning with their golden beaches, transparent waters, and perfect places for relaxing and engaging in various water sports.
3) Enhanced sanitation: The charge will be utilized for ensuring the cleanliness of the beach. Regular upkeep is crucial in maintaining the scenic desirability of such coastal features, thus encouraging tourists to visit the destination.
5) Development of infrastructural facilities: Some of the income will also be used for the improvement of the existing beach infrastructure which will comprise better facilities, better access roads, and improved visitor facilities. The state intends to work with the private sectors in constructing hotels and recreational centers aiming at added tourism on the area.
6) Expected visitors and revenue: The department of tourism anticipated that the beach access tariffs will assist control the numbers of people wanting to access these beaches during the peak seasons. Suryalanka and Rushikonda in particular receive a daily average of over 3,000 visitors on normal days, with such numbers expected to raise over the weekends and public holidays to more than 10,000 people.
Since there are a lot of people, the revenue collected from the entry fees will be put into development to ensure that the visitors to these coastal sites remain happy and safe always. With its peaceful settings and the availability of water sports, these beaches have also become popular among tourists.
In particular, numerous of these famous beaches are found in Visakhapatnam, which continues to be a hotspot for both domestic and foreign tourists.
