Indian Railways has announced that the Banaras-Agra Vande Bharat train will start its regular service on Monday, September 23. A week earlier, on September 16, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train virtually.

The Vande Bharat train has eight coaches and will take about seven hours to travel from Agra to Banaras. Ashok Kumar, the public relations officer of the Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway (NER), shared the train's schedule.
Agra Banaras Vande Bharat Train Schedule
Train number 20175 will leave Banaras station at 3:20 PM and reach Agra Cantonment at 10:20 PM. Here’s the timing for its stops:
- Prayagraj: 4:50 PM
- Kanpur Central: 6:57 PM
- Etawah: 8:17 PM
- Tundla: 9:32 PM
- Agra Cantt: 10:20 PM
For the return journey, train number 20176 will depart from Agra Cantonment at 6:00 AM and reach Banaras by 1:00 PM. It will stop at these stations:
- Tundla: 6:48 AM
- Etawah: 7:40 AM
- Kanpur Central: 9:15 AM
- Prayagraj: 11:25 AM
- Banaras station: 1:00 PM
The train will run every day except Friday. Ticket prices for the chair car and executive class will be announced soon.
Vande Bharat Inauguration
On September 16, PM Modi launched six Vande Bharat trains virtually. The trains seek to enhance religious tourism by facilitating visits to destinations such as Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar (Jharkhand), Kashi Vishwanath temple in Benaras (Uttar Pradesh), Kalighat and Belur Math in Kolkata (West Bengal), and others.
Also during the event, the Prime Minister distributed sanction letters to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) Tatanagar, Jharkhand and granted the initial funds for the trains operation.
