Following the model of New Town Eco Park, an eco-friendly park is now under construction in Madhyamgram. With financial support from the KMDA, work on the eco park—managed by Madhyamgram Municipality—is in full swing. The municipality claims that the park will be completed within this year at an estimated cost of 30 crore rupees.

In an earlier effort to raise public awareness about environmental protection, Madhyamgram Municipality had initiated an environmental awareness fair across the state. This time, the Trinamool-led municipality has taken the initiative to build an eco-friendly park—especially noteworthy given the huge crowds attracted by New Town Eco Park.
Several years ago, the then-chairman of Madhyamgram Municipality, Rathin Ghosh, decided to build a second eco park in Madhyamgram city, which lies very close to Kolkata. However, due to complications regarding the funding for the project, work could not commence until now. With those issues resolved, construction has finally begun.
The eco park is being built on 10 acres of land in the Panihara area of Ward 17 of the municipality. Inside the park, there will be a large water body where tourists can enjoy boating. A picturesque bridge is being constructed over the water body for transportation purposes. The park will feature state-of-the-art facilities—from an aquarium to a sound system—with ample lighting installed throughout. In addition, numerous fruit and flower trees will be planted, a playground is being set up for children, seating arrangements will be provided for senior citizens, and a food court will be available within the park.
Commenting on the project, the municipality chairman, Nimai Ghos, said,
"We are determined to make the park both state-of-the-art and visually appealing. The connectivity to the eco park is excellent. Just as one can easily travel from Madhyamgram, Barasat city, or the airport, the park is also easily accessible from the Danlop and Barrackpore sides. In short, the eco park in Madhyamgram is being built in the style of New Town Eco Park."
Madhyamgram’s legislator and Food Minister, Rathin Ghosh, added,
"In 2020, while I was chairman, the matter was discussed in the Chief Minister's administrative meeting. Following that, we received approval from the KMDA to build the eco park. However, due to some changes in the funding, work was delayed. We are now hopeful that the park will be inaugurated within this year." He noted that the park has already been fenced on all sides, and construction is progressing at a rapid pace.
