It is said to be an attracting UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is known for its musical pillars- 56 in number, which are beautifully carved and produce melodies when tapped. Visitors used to visit for this experience of music until 2008, after which measures were taken by the ASI as they started worrying about the stones.
Post the new initiative, the QR codes have been fixed on 10 pillars which would allow visitors to scan and listen to 25-second melodious sound clips, thereby digitally recreating the musical experience. Each pillar will have two QR codes, and efforts are being made to extend this to all 56 pillars. This shall reduce crowding at the monument while ensuring the preservation of its heritage.
The Department of Tourism in Karnataka has planned to develop 'travellers' nooks' with a vision to give guests a soothing and joyous experience during their excursion; these would preferably, avail drinking water stations, clean public toilets, mothers' and children's care centres, and information kiosks.

Future additions may include video recordings to supplement the visitor experience.
Besides the pillars, it offers basic details through QR code system about sculptures and artefacts housed inside ASI museum. Thus, it is an interesting mode to learn about the affluent history of Hampi.
