Mumbai's New Signal-Free Connector To BKC Will Save You 15 Minutes

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is launching a brand-new signal-free connector between the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) and the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). This new route is designed to ease traffic jams and save you precious time. If you take this route, you could save up to 15 minutes of your daily commute—sounds amazing, right? The connector is 180 meters long and is part of an 850-meter stretch. It connects the SEBI Building to Avenue-5 (beneath the BKC Connector Road) and then stretches all the way to Avenue-3 near We-Work.  

Now, you might think, “Isn’t the distance the same?” Yes, it is! But here’s the magic: no traffic signals! That means smoother rides and faster travel, especially during peak hours when traffic around BKC can feel like a never-ending struggle.

This project is a response to the bottlenecks caused by the earlier elevated connector, which opened in 2019. Back then, the connector between BKC’s G Block and EEH became overcrowded during rush hours, slowing down traffic on BKC’s internal roads. To fix this, the MMRDA stepped up with this smart new route.  

The idea is simple—spread out the traffic so no single road feels overloaded. By providing an alternative path, this connector aims to reduce congestion inside BKC and make life easier for people traveling to places like MCA, the Consulate, MTNL, and G Block.
