Snow Falls In Saudi Arabian Desert For The First Time Ever

In a surprising twist of events, some regions in Saudi Arabia have been experiencing spells of extreme rain and snowfall for the very first time. If the Al-Jawf region is to be believed, the latter has recently been covered with snow, thus creating a magical transformation in a normally dry terrain. The heavy snowfall in the region comes in the wake of heavy rains and hail that began to pelt the region in quick succession.

Early morning in Al-Jawf was magical, as the residents woke up to the eye-catching sight of the mountains that were well dressed with natural white snow. The Saudi Press Agency pointed out that the heavy downpour did not only allow for snow, but also waterfalls, giving life to the valleys and the region overall. This wintery picture, however, is quite the perspective shift as the country develops periods into winter, granting way for the beautiful season of spring that Al-Jawf is well known for. There is also a special distribution of seasonal wild flowers in the form of Lavenders, Chrysanthemum and different varieties of herbs that enable the region to bloom beautifully during the spring season.

Despite this, the Saudi weather authority has issued a statement with regard to heavy showers within the next few days. Thunderstorms are expected to sweep across Al-Jawf region, while forecasts indicate more downpours and hail that may obstruct vision. The storms are also expected to be accompanied by strong winds, and as such, the relevant authorities have advised the public to be cautious.

Saudi Arabia is not the only country facing strange weather conditions. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has similarly been under the influence of the same weather patterns. On October 14, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) of the UAE forecasted rains with thunderstorms and the possibility of hail in certain sectors. Most recently, the UAE weather department noted that these changes were caused by low extratropical systems that reached the Arabian sea and reached as far as Oman thus disturbing the weather system in that area.

The recent bouts of winter weather are conducive to the gradual changes taking place in the weather systems of the Middle East, which may even affect the driest of places. The recent snow that has fallen in Al-Jawf not only creates an interesting portion of the climatic evolution in the Kingdom but also provides an opportunity to the locals and tourists to enjoy a breathtaking winter scene which is hardly evident in this region of the world. With the onset of more wet weather in the area, the promise of colorful flowers blooming in the spring enhances the excitement surrounding this bizarre weather occurrence.
