In Faridabad, Haryana, a new 24-kilometer segment of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has opened which is a step further in the direction of enhancing road network. It is still unsure when the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will hold a ceremonial launch; in any case, the corridor has been operating for about a month. Costing ₹1,729 crore, this section has a starting point at Mithapur (Jaitpur Pushta) along the Delhi axis and ends at Kelly village in Ballabhgarh, thus easing the growing traffic on roads in the vicinity of Faridabad.

The expressway now opened is envisaged to coat the heavy traffic over NH-19 which is often the case and is likely to accommodate vehicle traffic in excess of 50,000 per day. This will assist in alleviating traffic on the roads within the city and enhancing the general movement of vehicles. The expressway further connects to Delhi Agra Highway (NH-19) which eases movement to and from Faridabad. However, even though the expressway route starts at the DND Flyway New Delhi, the segment of the route falling within the city is still under construction and will not be operational in the near future.
This section is structured in a 12-lane capacity to accommodate the expected traffic volumes. There is a central six-lane main carriageway with three lanes of service roads provided on each side for sufficient vehicular accommodation. The service roads are aimed at improving access, and consequently enhancing road use, so as to reduce traffic jams seen on major hinterland routes. This portion falls under Package 3 of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and lies between Sectors 62-65 in Faridabad and a crossing adjoining the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal stretch of the Western Peripheral Expressway, which got inaugurated in May 2023.
Further, this new stretch of the express highway provides for the addition of six entry and exit ramps, thus enabling access to both city dwellers as well as long distance travellers. Kiranj village will host the first toll plaza some 25 km from Kelly's location but current discussions are still on the final toll collection rates. The NHAI is anticipated to reveal the toll rates in the near future as they complete the operational particulars.
