The US has, in recent times, organized a special chartered flight for the deportation of unlawful Indian immigrants. This news was revealed by Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The operation, however, was done in collaboration with the Indian government, which emphasizes on the immigration laws of the US. The special chartered plane left for India on 22nd October and deported Indians who had no claim of legal residence in the US.

DHS senior official, Kristie A. Canegallo issued a warning to the Indian nationals that do not have the required documentation to remain in the US, stating they will be removed without delay. Besides, she warned potential migrants even further against smugglers’ false claims that there exists any illegal way to stay in America. Instead, DHS advocates for lawful and controlled migration.


The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) noticed an extreme drop in the instances of encounters at the borders starting from June 2024 when the “Securing the Border” Presidential Proclamation and its Interim Final Rule were implemented. Due to these measures, which have resulted in the introduction of more stringent immigration policies, there has been a 55 percent decline in the number of encounters along the southwest border.
