As a normal human being, I am so excited for Durga Puja 2025! This is my favourite festival ever. I heard that the theme of Durga Puja 2025 is going to be super cool this year. One club is doing a tribute to the Indian Army, another is building a pandal like a temple from Cambodia. It's so amazing how they come up with these new ideas every year. I can't wait to go pandal hopping with my friends and see all the amazing art. Hope it doesn't rain much! Here are top 20 themes of Durga Puja 2025.

You'll Discover

    1) Santosh Mitra Square

Santosh Mitra Square's Durga Puja theme for 2025 is "Operation Sindoor," which is a really patriotic concept. It's a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and is named after a real military mission from earlier this year. The pandal is designed to look like a mountain and a cave, and they're gonna have a light and sound show. The police are being kind of a stick-in-the-mud about it, though. They gave the organizers a notice, saying they won't allow a light and sound show and some other stuff. It's all a bit of drama, but the pandal is still going to be super cool, probably.

    2) Akhandakeshari Sarbojanin Durga Puja

This year, Akhandakeshari Sarbojanin Durgotsab is doing something really cool for their Durga Puja theme. It's called "Shakti," which means strength, but it's about more than just the goddess.1 It's about how we use technology today. The committee wants people to think about using their phones less and connecting with real people more. They're celebrating their 67th year this time. So, it’s about ancient power, but also, like, a warning about digital addiction and stuff. The actress Srabanti was there for the launch, which was super glamorous. My friend told me their pandal is gonna look super futuristic, with blinking lights and things, which sounds pretty cool. But also, I hope it doesn't just look like a big computer.

    3) Cooperative Ground Durga Puja

I was just at the Cooperative Ground Durga Puja planning meeting and oh my gosh, you won't believe the theme for 2025! It's going to be "Shonaar Kella," which means Golden Fort. They're celebrating their 50th golden jubilee and they are gonna make a pandal that looks just like the real fort in Jaisalmer! My friend, she said her nephew is going there to work on it, which is so cool. I hope they don't get the sand all over the place. I heard they are using all kinds of eco-friendly things this time too, which is just great for the environment, you know? It's going to be so beautiful to see all the golden colors and everything. I can't wait to go there and take a lot of selfies.

    5) Golaghata Sammilani

For this year's Durga Puja, Golaghata Sammilani has gone with a super special theme called "Break Fail." It's a really moving subject about how divorces affect children, so sad, you know? They’re using all sorts of amazing art and installations inside the pandal to show the emotional journey and challenges kids face when their parents separate. It’s a very deep and modern topic to choose for a festival. I hope it makes people think a lot and talk about it. It’s a great example of how Puja is not just for religion, it's also a big canvas for social issues. I love that.

    5) Nagerbazaar Laha Colony Bibek Sangha

This year, the Nagerbazaar Laha Colony Bibek Sangha is doing somethin' a little different. For their 75th year anniversary puja, they have a really cool theme called "Antarale," which means "in the shadows." The idea is to give a big shout-out to all the dadas out there. I mean, all the fathers! They are always working so hard and supporting us from the background without a word, unlike our moms who get all the credit. It’s a very emotional theme, and the pandal is going to be super artistic to show how fathers are the silent heroes of our lives. You should defo go see it in North Kolkata. It's gonna be amazing!

    6) Badamtala Ashar Sangha

Badamtala Ashar Sangha’s 2025 Durga Puja theme is called “Aarjee (Prayer)” It’s a very clever idea, really. The whole pandal is gonna look like a courtroom and Maa Durga will be a judge, you know, like Lady Justice. The artist Somnath Dolui is designing the concept, and the idol is being made by Pallab Jana. It’s all about justice and truth, which is a big deal right now, with all the news and everything.1 They want to show that Maa is the ultimate judge, and also how we judge people in our own lives. I mean, it's a great theme, but I hope the line isn’t too long. Last year, the crowds were insane.

    7) Tala Prattyay

Bijeetganit (Algebra) as a Durga Puja theme for 2025 at Tala Prattyay is a super cool idea. It’s totally different from the usual themes like mythology or village life. They’re gonna use math to decorate the pandal! Think about it, equations and variables all over the place. I bet it'll be really hard to figure out what they mean.

They’ll probably use things like a big 'X' for the main idol's background, and maybe the quadratic formula will be hanging from the ceiling. It's a great way to make a point about how science and art can go hand-in-hand! I heard they’re also going to have some kind of a quiz about algebra for visitors to win prizes. Sounds like fun, but I hope I remember my formulas.

    8) College Square

This year, College Square is making a big splash with their Durga Puja pandal theme, "Angkor-inspired Reflections." They're replicating the famous Angkor Wat temple from, I think, Cambodia or something like that. I always get those places mixed up. It's supposed to be a really cool and unique idea, with the whole temple reflected in the water of the lake. The pandal is going to be all sparkly and lit up by the best Chandannagar lighting, so it'll look absolutely amazing at night. The idol is also being made by some famous artist, Sanatan Rudra Pal, who always does a fantastic job. Everyone's already talking about it, and it's not even puja yet! I can't wait to go see it.

    9) Deshapriya Park

Durga Puja at Deshapriya Park in 2025 is gonna be absolutely crazy, for sure. The theme they've chosen is "World's Grandest Idol Experience," which is a bit of a silly name but hey, it gets the point across. The rumor is they're making a gigantic Durga Maa idol again, even bigger than the one from 2015 that caused such a mess. I heard they're using all sorts of new fangled materials, not just the usual clay and stuff. People are already getting excited and posting about it on the interwebs. This is definitely going to be the puja to see this year. Just hope the traffic doesn't get as bad as last time, my god.

    10) Ekdalia Evergreen Club

OMG, have you heard? Ekdalia Evergreen Club is doing this awesome thing for Durga Puja 2025! They're making their pandal like the Arunachaleswarar Temple from Tamil Nadu. You know, the one with the really tall gopurams. It's supposed to be like a replica. Ekdalia always does these big temple themes, like last year they did the Puri Jagannath Temple. It’s gonna be so crowded, but I can’t wait to go see it. I hope the weather is good and it doesn't rain, my new sandals will get all muddy. It's going to be so grand and fancy.

    11) Shreebhumi Sporting Club

This year, the famous Shreebhumi Sporting Club is recreating a magnificent temple from the United States for their Durga Puja theme. They're making a replica of the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple from New Jersey, USA. This pandal is going to be so grand and huge, like those other ones they did, remember? The one that looked like the Burj Khalifa and the Vatican City. It’s supposed to be amazing with lots of intricate carvings and statues, and it's being done under the watchful eye of Minister Sujit Bose, who's the main guy for the club. Prepare for a lot of traffic.

    12) Gouribari

Gouribari is doing a Durga Puja theme in 2025 called "Bricks Art." It's all about making art with bricks, which sounds really different and cool. They're trying to showcase artistic work using bricks, which is a big change from the usual clay or thermocol. I think it's very creative because bricks are so simple, but they can be used to build something beautiful. It's a great example of how these Puja themes are getting more and more about art and not just the goddess. This is going to be a must-see for everyone who wants to see some great creativity. I am so exciting to visit!

    13) ITI More Luminous Club

ITI More Luminous Club is recreating the Hsinbyume Pagoda from Myanmar for their Durga Puja theme in 2025. This pagoda, also known as the Myatheindan Pagoda, is famous for its unique all-white design and its tiered, layered architecture that's meant to look like the mythical Mount Meru. The club hopes to bring a slice of this beautiful structure to West Bengal, and it's already creating a lot of buzz among pandal hoppers, even those from Kolkata who are planning to make the trek to Kalyani just to see it. Last year they did a different building from a country I can't remember but this one seems way cooler.

    14) Jagat Mukherjee Park

Jagat Mukherjee Park is making a big buzz for their 2025 Durga Puja theme: AI: Ashirbaad na Abishap? (Is AI a boon or a curse?). They is exploring the dual nature of AI, showing how it can help people and also the problems it creates. The pandal will have a light and sound show with a huge robotic figure that represents the future. The idol will be made out of what looks like computer parts. Its a very intersting concept, I think.

    15) Kabiraj Bagan Sarbojanin

Kabiraj Bagan Sarbojanin is bringing the Digha Jagannath Temple to Kolkata for Durga Puja 2025. It's a big deal cuz the new Digha temple just opened on April 30, 2025. Wait, is that the new temple they built at the beach? Yes, that's it! It's so cool they're recreating it. The pandal is going to have all the parts, like the Jagamohan and the Vimana and probably lots of beautiful carvings like the real one has. It’s going to be huge and super pretty with all that pink sandstone and marble look-alike stuff. Hope I get to see it this year. I always miss a few good ones.

    16) Lalabagan Nabankur

For Durga Puja 2025, Lalabagan Nabankur is doing a very cool thing, their theme is called "Fish in a Bottle." It's not a real fish, of course. That would be mean. The pandal is going to look like a big bottle and inside will be the Maa Durga idol. The whole thing is supposed to be a message about how we're all, like, trapped in our own little worlds and need to break free. So creative, right? I heard they’re using lots of recycled plastic bottles, which is great for the environment, you know. I can't wait to see it, I'm sure it's gonna be a big hit, just like last year's was, even though I don't remember what that was. I think it was something about plants.

    17) Nalin Sarkar Street

Ah, yes! Nalin Sarkar Street, my favorite! For Durga Puja 2025, they are doing a super cool theme called "Rupantar" which means "Transformation." They're gonna show how society is always changing, like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. It's gonna be a big hit, I just know it. The artists are working hard and said it's almost done. I can't wait to see the lights! I think it's somewhere near Hatibagan, right? I always get confused with these narrow lanes.

    18) Suruchi Sangha

Suruchi Sangha in New Alipore picked a cool name for their Durga Puja theme this year, it's called "Ahuti" which means like, a sacrifice for the greater good. The pandal looks like an ancient fire of yajna thingy, where everyone's devotion and energy go up like smoke to the goddess. The art and stuff are all made from green materials to show how all our contributions, even the small ones, are gifts for society. The Durga idol will be like, the receiver of all these gifts, showing that this year's celebration is about unity, service, and selflessness. It sounds like a really neat idea!

    19) Telengabagan Durgotsab

This year, Telengabagan Durgotsab has announced their theme as "Sutrapath" which translates to "the beginning" or "the initiation." It's their 60th year, so it makes sense, right? It's a big deal! They are trying to make the pandal look like a brand new start, maybe with some really cool, modern art mixed with tradition. I heard the idol might be a bit different, too, to match the theme. So, like, it's about paying tribute to the past but also looking forward, you know? It's gonna be so crowded, I already know it. I should probably get a VIP pass if they're selling one this year.

    20) Laketown Adhibasibrinda

Oh man, Durga Puja 2025 is gonna be so cool! I heard Laketown Adhibasibrinda's theme is "The Library of Life" but also some people call it just a "library theme". It's supposed to be a total surprise for book lovers, and they're gonna blend all that knowledge stuff with the puja grandness. It's like, you're not just pandal hopping, you're going on a journey through knowledge. I bet the whole place will look like a gigantic library with huge book stacks and stuff. What a cool idea, right? So excited to see it!

    Final Thoughts

And that, folks, is the wrap on our look at the amazing theme of durga puja 2025! It's a bit like a big art show, isn't it, but with more yummy food and less standing still. The creativity gets crazier every year. I hope you got some good ideas for which pandals to see. Don't forget to wear comfy shoes, 'cause you'll be walking a ton. And if you get lost, just follow the crowd of people who are also hopelessly lost. Happy Pujo!
