First, let’s talk about the project. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned a huge budget of INR 74,427.41 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26. Yes, you heard that right—this is the largest budget ever in our city’s history! BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani shared this news, and it truly shows how much Mumbai is growing.

Next, the Mumbai Eye will offer amazing panoramic views of our city. Imagine sitting in an air-conditioned, sealed capsule while you enjoy breathtaking views of Mumbai from high above. This ride is set to become a top attraction for both locals and tourists. Although the exact spot and some budget details are still being decided, the project will cover about two to three acres of land.

It is interesting to note that the idea of a Ferris wheel in Mumbai was first suggested in 2008 by Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Waikar. Later on, in 2022, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) brought back the idea with a proposal for the Bandra Reclamation promenade.

Moreover, the Mumbai Eye will make our city’s skyline even more beautiful. It will add a new and unique way to enjoy Mumbai, making it a must-visit attraction. People of all ages will get to experience a comfortable and fun ride that offers a fresh look at our wonderful city.

In addition to this exciting project, the BMC budget focuses on making Mumbai a better place to live. Commissioner Gagrani described the plan as a “vision for Mumbai's future.” The budget supports six main areas:

  • Fiscal discipline and sustainability
  • Infrastructure and service improvements
  • Better education
  • A clean and sustainable environment
  • Social welfare initiatives
  • Improved governance

These efforts will help create a more efficient, cleaner, and happier city for everyone.

Finally, let’s remember London’s Ferris wheel, the London Eye. Standing 135 meters tall on the South Bank of the River Thames, it was completed in 2000 and quickly became a favorite spot for visitors. It gives stunning views of famous landmarks like Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Isn’t it amazing to think that Mumbai will soon have its own version of this spectacular ride? I am really excited about the Mumbai Eye and all the great changes coming to our city. Let’s look forward to a future where we can all enjoy this wonderful attraction together!
