The Bagrakote loop bridge offers breathtaking views of nature. Travelers will be mesmerized by the scenic beauty on both sides. Rivers can be spotted from the bridge, and during sunrise and sunset, the surroundings transform into a magical environment. Many believe that the loop bridge will become a prominent tourist spot in Bagrakote in the future.
An Alternative Route to Sikkim
This Bagrakote loop bridge will play a vital role in connecting West Bengal and Sikkim. The National Highway 10, which serves as the lifeline between Siliguri, Kalimpong, and Sikkim, often gets blocked, especially during monsoons due to heavy rains and landslides. In such cases, an alternative route through Gorubathan to Kalimpong and then Sikkim takes almost 2.5 times the usual travel time.
To resolve this issue, a new road construction project was initiated to create an alternative route from Siliguri through oodlabari and Bagrakote to Sikkim. The loop bridge is a key part of this project. Since 2018, several pillars have been erected along the hillside about 4–5 kilometers from Bagrakote to construct the bridge. The loop bridge has two sections, and preparations are underway to open it to the public soon.

Another woman shared that she had been hearing about the loop bridge for days and seeing pictures, which prompted her to visit the site herself.
The loop bridge is not just an infrastructure project but also a potential gem on the tourism map, offering convenience, beauty, and a unique travel experience.
