South Korea Plane Crash: 176 Lives Lost Out Of 181 Onboard

A terrible accident happened on Sunday in South Korea’s Muan city. A Jeju Air plane, carrying 181 people, veered off the runway and hit a fence while landing. Sadly, 179 passengers are feared dead, and officials have confirmed 176 deaths so far.

The Jeju Air flight, 7C2216, was traveling from Bangkok to Muan. It landed around 9 a.m. local time when the incident occurred


This tragic crash comes just days after another plane accident involving Azerbaijan Airlines near Kazakhstan’s Aktau. That crash claimed 38 lives and left others injured.  


Key Points About the Jeju Air Crash  


- The plane had 175 passengers and six crew members on board.  

- It veered off the runway and collided with a fence, causing a massive fire.  

- Local TV footage showed thick black smoke and flames covering the aircraft.  


Little Hope for Survivors  


A South Korean fire department official shared heartbreaking news. He explained that passengers were thrown from the plane after it hit the barrier, leaving very little chance of survival.  


"Passengers were ejected from the aircraft after it collided with the barrier, leaving little chance of survival," the official said.


Germany's Chancellor Offers Condolences  


German Chancellor Olaf Scholz shared his sympathy for the victims and their families. He posted on X, saying:  

 

“We have received terrible news of a plane crash in South Korea with many fatalities. Our condolences go out to the families of those killed in the crash, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
