"Hosting the greatest sporting spectacle on the planet is something we're thrilled to announce," said Fahd Hamidaddin, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Tourism Authority. "More than 100 million arrivals were reported for 2023, and we are the fastest-growing tourist destination in the G20. We, the Heart of Arabia, want to offer that experience to our visitors as they see it from the country's mountains in Aseer to the shimmering waters of the Saudi Red Sea, as vast dunes, cultural and natural heritages inspire them and dazzle them. Our vibrant tourism sector assures a seamless experience for our visitors across all touchpoints. We invite the world to experience the magic of Saudi while they can now. Whether one seeks an adrenaline rush, a cultural experience, or relaxation, a visit in advance of the World Cup will offer a taste of Saudi, and hospitality, where, with hearts open, all are invited to experience the warmest of Saudi welcomes."
For the first time in history, a single country will be hosting the FIFA World Cup™ 2034 tournament, which has 48 teams contending. Saudi's host cities include Riyadh, which blends modern entertainment with historical treasures at Diriyah; Jeddah, basking under the glimmering Red Sea along with Al Balad, which preserves Historic Jeddah's charm; Al Khobar, with its soft beaches and cultural landmarks; and with its lush landscapes and adventure activities, Abha. All of the host cities are set to capture football fans' hearts with high-tech stadiums, world-class amenities, lively fan festivals, and a wide variety of cultural experiences.
To mark Saudi's triumph at the FIFA World Cup™ 2034 bidding, STA filled international cities with lively, on-ground occurrences like the Saudi flash mobs performed at Piccadilly Circus in London and Dubai Mall's iconic fountain, which were complemented by showcasing elements of the Kingdom's rich culture on the destinations that will host the matches. Other domestic celebrations were held in five iconic places: Salwa Palace, Historic Jeddah, Hegra, Rijal Almaa, and Ithra- facilities that were opened to the public so they could participate in commemorating this momentous event. STA also produced a short film welcoming and inviting the world into the warmth and wonder of Saudi, in which the whole country embodies the emotion, pride, and enthusiasm felt by each nation.
Saudi Arabia has been taking its impressive heritage and colourful culture to the world for a long time. With a very excellent fan base for football, along with many heated world-class sporting events taking place in the country, Saudi has lands that boast from the beautiful Red Sea with its 1,800 km of immaculate coastline, endless dunes of desert, mountain canyons, and the historical marvels of AlUla, where the heritage meets nature, to the coastal cosmopolitan hub of Jeddah, where everything modern and traditional comes alive, stirred to near euphoric highs by the thrall and excitement of this capital city called Riyadh. Who would not want to discover this land full of culture, history, and stunning experiences? The destination is all-year-round.
The STA, together with the travel industry partners, will surely create that seamless and most pleasurable experience for everyone down to the last traveler visiting the country. This includes improved flight connections, more efficient visa processes, and a diverse array of accommodation options for every budget and preference. Delivering a first-of-its-kind tournament that sings the football spirit and builds a legacy for the generations to come, Saudi resolved to make it beyond comparison on sustainability and accessibility.
