Kashmir experienced its first snowfall on Saturday, which phenomenally changed places like Srinagar, Pahalgam, and Gulmarg into a beautiful magical snowy land. The entire state looks like a Christmas card because of the snow-clad valleys, mountains, and popular tourist spots. Even the higher altitudes received a good amount of snowfall due to the western disturbance.

Snowfall In Pahalgam

Pahalgam has been the first town in Kashmir to get the snow this season. Covered in a blanket of white, this lovely town is famous for its beautiful views of verdant meadows and also a base for the well-known Amarnath Yatra. 

This snow brings in winter and heralds the opening of what is tantamount to a highly anticipated tourist season with hoards of visitors soon flooding into this destination to indulge in exciting winter activities such as snow trekking, skiing, and snowboarding.

It is one of the prime ski resort town in Kashmir. Gulmarg also saw the initial snowfall of the season. The visitors can appreciate the angelic view of the surrounding mountains.

Sonamarg, The Golden Meadow

Sonamarg, the land of the golden meadows, also received fresh white fluff. The peaks have taken on a wonderful, snowy landscape in winter. Besides, Gurez and Zojila axis were also covered with snow that blocked the Srinagar-Leh highway for a short time. Meanwhile, authorities have advised caution to visitors entering these high areas on the roads, since the snowfall has made many impassable and slippery. However, it is expected to boost tourism in the area.

The weather department, on the other hand, said that cloudy skies are likely to continue into Sunday. As the season changes and Kashmir receives fresh snow, the region is ready to draw in tourists seeking to experience this magical snow world once again.
