The train has recently arrived at the Kandivli yard and is going through some final checks and tests. Soon, it will be ready to take passengers on their journeys!

If reports are to go by, then with 10 to 12 more AC local trips added to the already very busy schedule, this will no doubt be significant for a number of commuters. So, for the many who prefer to travel in comfort and coolness, brace to have more options soon. The new AC local has been made by ICF in Chennai, and it's coming to meet the growing pressures of having these premium services.

At this point in time, around 1.24 lakh passengers - around 4% of the 31 lakh commuters that the Western Railway services in a day - avail of AC local travel. The very first AC local train was introduced on December 25, Christmas Day, in 2017, and it became an immediate phenomenon. It was also cited that ever since the debut of this train, these trains have turned out to be the preferred modes of transport, making it cooler and more comfortable for the travelers. With this, the Western Railway boasts of a fleet of eight AC rakes, out of which seven are already in operation.

During Mumbai's hot and humid summer months, this new air-conditioned local train is going to be a relief. With even more slots being opened for local trips, local commuting is just set to get much easier. One might not ignore the fact that with this, the railways have also reduced the overcrowding of the local trains.
