The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is in the process of initiating a new QR Code-based Audio Tour Portal. This is expected to promote tourism and cater to the visitors at places of historical and cultural significance. Tourists can make use of these audio guides in excess of 100 important places. This audio tour technology, if reports are to be believed, very soon, places like the Taj Mahal, ancient temples of Varanasi, spiritual sites of Ayodhya, and all other famous places of the state will have this service.

The audio tour system is a part of the strategy of the state to promote its culture by reaching it out to the local or even the foreign tourists. Visitors will get to access such audio content through these digital platforms. This exposure is hoped to impart detailed knowledge concerning the locations’ backgrounds, the architectural designs, and the overall importance to culture. Tourists will be expected to scan the different QR codes attached to different locations using their phones.
It has been stated that the aforementioned voice records will be available in English and Hindi initially. And after that the regional as well as foreign languages would be incorporated. The intention is to cater to the visitors from various parts of the world. The durations of audio tours is expected to be somewhere between 1 - 15 minutes so that the visitors can take it at their own speed and also get an even better insight about every place that they visit.

The aim of the project is to ensure that tourists comprehend these sites much more making every trip an interesting one.
This stage of the audio tours will be a mobile responsive web portal that will incorporate the QR codes to allow easy access to the content via smart phones and tablets.
With this new initiative, Uttar Pradesh Tourism aims at not only making it more appealing but also encourages the inclusion of this state as one of the significant cultural tourism destinations in India for the optimum utilization of heritage assets with care for the past and vision for the future.
