According to the reports, the eVisa lets you get a short-term visa just for tourism. You can stay in the island nation for up to 90 days with this visa. If you're from India or live there as a foreign national, you can apply for this eVisa. To do anything else, travelers would still need to fill out visa applications the old-fashioned way, by visiting Japanese embassies or consulates in person.
Countries can apply for a Japan eVisa are from Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, USA, China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Mongolia, South Korea, and India.
People applying for visas will still send their applications to Visa Application Centers run by VFS Global, just like before. But, instead of getting regular visa stickers stuck on their passports, they'll now get electronic visas.
Here's how you can start the process of applying for a tourist visa in Japan:
1. Go to the official website of the Japan Visa Application Centre, which is run by VFS Global. You can find it at visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/jpn/.
2. Choose the 'Temporary Visitor Visa' option, download the visa application form, and fill it out correctly. Afterward, print it and make sure you've filled in all the required information.
3. To submit your application form at the Visa Application Centre, simply schedule an appointment. Once you've booked your slot, you'll get an email confirming your appointment, along with the appointment letter.
4. When you arrive for your appointment, just bring along your visa application form to the center and wait for an email notification. Plus, you can keep track of your visa application status online using the reference number found on your invoice or receipt from the center.
When you're checking in at the airport, make sure to show the visa issuance notice on your device. Your travel agency will give you a Visa Issuance Notice with a barcode. Just scan the barcode and fill in the required info to see the notice. Then, click on 'Display' to view the electronic visa issuance notice.
