5 reasons to visit Nepal

 1) History of Nepal

History of Nepal, Siddhartha Gautama
Siddhartha Gautama

So my friends do you know that the history of Nepal can be traced back to ancient times, with evidence of human settlements in the Kathmandu Valley dating back to the Neolithic period? Yeah you heard that right guys. Nepal was later ruled by various dynasties and kingdoms,  including the Licchavi dynasty in the 4th century and the Malla dynasty in the 13th century. In the middle of the first millennium BC,  Gautama Buddha (563BC- 483BC),  the founder of Buddhism,  was born in Lumbini in southern Nepal.

In the 18th century,  the Shah dynasty emerged as the dominant force in Nepal and established the Kingdom of Nepal,  which lasted until 2008. During this period,  Nepal remained a closed society,  with limited contact with the outside world.

In the 19th century,  Nepal came under the influence of the British Empire,  which sought to establish a buffer state between India and China. Nepal remained independent,  but the British Raj controlled its foreign relations and trade.

In the 20th century,  Nepal saw significant political and social changes. In 1951,  King Tribhuvan successfully led a movement to overthrow the Rana oligarchy and establish a constitutional monarchy. However, political instability and economic challenges continued to plague the country.

In 1996,  The Nepalese Civil War began which was a protracted armed conflict that took place in the former Kingdom of Nepal. The conflict ended with a peace agreement in 2006 and the formation of a republic in 2008 and thus ending the world's last Hindu monarchy.

Since then,  Nepal has undergone significant political changes,  including the adoption of a new constitution in 2015 and the formation of a federal democratic republic but remains a resilient and culturally rich country with a unique history and heritage.

2) Geographical features of Nepal

So guys one of the 5 reasons to visit Nepal is it's Geographical features. Nepal measures about 880 kilometres along its Himalayan axis by 150 to 250 kilometres across. Nepal is landlocked country by India to the South, East and West,  and by China's Tibet Autonomous Region to the north. The country has a diverse geography that includes mountains,  hills,  valleys,  and plains.

Nepal is divided into three principal physiographic belts known as Himal,  Pahad,  Terai. Himal is the mountain region containing snow and located in the Great Himalayan Range,  which makes the northern border of the Nepal. Himal includes the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest,  as well as seven of world's "eight-thousanders" are in Nepal or on its border with Tibet which includes Lhotse, Makalu,  Cho oyu,  Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri,  Annapurna,  Manaslu peaks that are over 8,000 meters high. The Himal region also include several national parks and conservation areas that are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.

Pahad region or Hilly region is a mountain region which does not generally contain snow. To the south of the Himalayan lies the hilly region of Nepal,  which includes the Kathmandu Valley,  the country's cultural and political center. The hills are covered with forests and terraced farmland,  and are home to many indigenous communities.

The Terai region,  located in the southernmost part of Nepal,  is a lowland area which contains some hill ranges that stretches along the border with India. It is a fertile plain that is home to much of Nepal's agricultural land,  and is an important region for wildlife conservation. The Terai is also home to several national parks,  including Chitwan National Park and Bardia National Park.

Nepal is crisscrossed by many rivers,  including the Koshi,  Gandaki,  and Karnali rivers,  which are all tributaries of the Ganges. These rivers provide water for irrigation,  hydropower generation,  and other economic activities.

So guys these geographical features of Nepal makes it a country of great natural beauty and ecological significance,  with a wide range of ecosystems and habitats. However, it also presents challenges related to infrastructure development,  disaster risk management,  and environmental conservation.
